Ward Beach
Ward Beach is a Beach break with both right and lefts on offer depending on the swell angle, located on the coast from Ward township. This beach has improved since the 2016 earthquakes. The beach has a rocky points at either end, and the rest of the beach is mostly sand/small stones. Ward Beach produces a wally,punchy, fun beach break wave. When its small watch you don't hit the beach as the surf breaks close to shore. Good for intermediate to
expert surfers.

From Kaikoura Drive north on State Highway 1 for about 45mins, until you get to Ward. Turn right onto Seddon Street, then turn right onto Ward Beach Road and follow this down to the beach.
From Blenheim drive south on State Highway 1 for about 30mins. Before you reach Ward turn right onto Ward Beach Road and follow this down to the beach.
