Paul's innovative skills have lead him to develop Barron Flex (FlexBar) Technology, in collaboration with Channel Islands Surfboards, arguably the most prestigious surfboard company on the globe. Paul makes Channel Island FlexBar boards for the New Zealand market and has also incorporated this technology into his very own Barron shapes.

Orokawa Bay

Orokawa Bay is a beach break on a sandy beach, located just over the hill to the north of Waihi Beach. There are several peaks to choose from with both right and left handers. There is also a good right hand point break at the southern end of the beach. The wave is powerful and hollow, with barrels on offer. know the rules and respect the locals. Good for intermediate to expert surfers.

Homunga Bay

Homunga Bay is a beach break on a sandy beach, located a long walk north from Waihi Beach. There are several peaks to choose from along the beach with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun with good power. Know the rules and respect the locals. Good for intermediate to expert surfers.

Waihi Beach

Waihi Beach is a sandy beach break located at the southern end of the Coromandel. You can surf anywhere along this stretch of beach. There are several peaks to choose from with both right and left-handers. There can also be a good left off the rocks at the northern end of the beach. The wave is punchy and fun. This beach is popular, so watch out for swimmers, know the rules and respect the locals. Suitable for all levels of surfer. Facilities available at the surf club.

Pio's

Pio's is a beach break on a sandy beach, located between Waihi Beach and Bowentown. You can surf anywhere along this stretch of beach. There are several peaks to choose from with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun. This beach is popular, so watch out for swimmers, know the rules and respect the locals. Good for all levels of surfer. Facilities at surf club.

Bowentown

Bowntown is a right hand beach break on a sandy beach, located at the northern tip of Matakana Island. You will need to paddle across the channel from Bowentown, Seaforth Road. You can also take a boat or take the ferry, you can take your car across on the ferry. note you are not allowed to paddle the channel between Matakana Island and Mount Maunganui. There is a good right hand break into the right mouth, and several peaks along the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun. Good for Intermediate to expert surfers.

North Matakana Island

North Matakana Island is a beach break on a sandy beach, located near the northen end of Matakana Island. You will need a boat or take the ferry, you can take your car across on the ferry. note you are not allowed to paddle the channel between Matakana Island and Mount Maunganui. There are several peaks along the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun. Good for Intermediate to expert surfers.
