Bluehouse is a left hand point break on a rocky point, located west round the point from Pines and Shipwreck Bay, and west of Ahipara. The wave has a steep fast drop in, into a hollow barrel. Bluehouse is a long walk round from Ahipara, past Shipwreck Bay, supertubes, pines, until you find a blue house on the hill. If you have a 4wd you can drive around on the beach. Be careful of rips. Best for expert surfers only.
Pines is well known for excellent surf, with big long rides. Pines is a left hand point break on a rocky point, located west round the point from Shipwreck Bay, and west of Ahipara. There are four distinct sections on the point starting with Pines the further most west, then onto Supertubes, then Mukie2 and Mukie1, the closest east. Pines is the easiest, cruisie wave of the four. The wave is nice and wally and can barrel up towards the end. Pines is a long walk to get to or if you have a 4wd you can drive around on the beach. Be careful of rips. Best for advanced to expert surfers.

There are four distinct sections on the point starting with Pines the further most west, then onto Supertubes, then Mukie2 and Mukie1, the closest east. Mukie1 is the inside wave, onto the beach. The wave has a steep fast drop in and short barrel section. Mukie1 is a long walk to get to or if you have a 4wd you can drive around on the beach. Be careful of rips. Best for advanced to expert surfers.
Supertubes is well known for excellent surf. It is a left hand point break on a rocky point, located west round the point from Shipwreck Bay, and west of Ahipara. There are four distinct sections on the point starting with the furthest west, 'Pines', then onto 'Supertubes', 'Mukie2', then 'Mukie1' the closest east. Supertubes is often the best wave of the four. The wave is solid with a steep drop in, into a mean barrel section, then onto a wally section. This is a real performance wave. Supertubes is a long walk to get to or if you have a 4WD, you can drive around on the beach.
Mukie2 is well known for excellent surf, with big long rides. Mukie2 is a left hand point break on a rocky/sandy point, located west round the point from Shipwreck Bay, and west of Ahipara. Ahipara Beach is a sandy beach break, located southwest of Kaitaia, on the west coast of Northland. There are several peaks to choose from along the beach, with both right and left-handers. The wave is soft and fat, great for learners. Good for all levels of surfer.
90 Mile Beach is a beach break on a sandy beach, located west of Kaitaia, on the West Coast of Northland. There are several peaks to choose from along the very long beach, with both right and left-handers. Can get heaps of swell as it is very exposed. The wave is punchy and fun. Good for all levels of surfer.
Shipwreck Bay is well known for excellent surf with big, long rides. The bay is sandy with a few rocks around the point. Shipwreck Bay has two waves, with 'Shipwreck Bay' or 'Wreck Bay' being the left-hand point break coming through onto the beach, and 'Peaks' further out, round to the west, also a left-hand point break. The 'Wreck' is a softer, cruisy wave with a nice long ride. On a good day, 'Peaks' has a gnarly take off with an awesome barrel section, that continues into a nice wally wave that will treat you to a really long ride.
Baylys Beach is a beach break on a sandy beach. Its a long beach with various peaks to choose from, offering both left and right handers. It can be very changable with different tides and winds, as its very exposed to the wind. Best with smaller swell around 2-4 foot. Watch out for the rips which can get quite bad. Ok for surfers of all levels.
