Kakanui
Kakanui is a beach break on a sandy beach, located at Kakanui, on the coast from Maheno. Kakanui features a right hand point break in front of the river mouth at the south end of the beach. Good fun peaks on offer. Good for all levels of surfer.

Directions
From Oamaru head south on State Highway 1. At Maheno Turn left onto Fortification Road, at the end of the road turn right onto Beach Road. Continue striaght ahead and the road will change to High Street, then into Cobblestone Road, which will take you right down to the beach. You can also drive round to the south side of the river on Harbour Terrace to surf the right hander.
