Wanganui South Beach
Wanganui South Beach is a beach break located behind the airport, just south of the Wanganui River. There are several peaks along the beach to choose from, one of the better ones is where the sewage outfall pipe comes out. The wave hollow and powerful. Intermediate to expert surfers only.

From Wanganui head south on Carlton Ave, State Highway 3. Cross the Wanganui River, then turn right onto Wikitoria Road, which will turn into Airport Road. Continue past the airport then turn left onto the gravel road and take this round the end of the airport to the south side of the river mouth. From here walk over the sand dunes to the beach.
