Whiritoa
Whiritoa is a beach break on a sandy beach, located on the south east part of the Coromandel Peninsula. There are several peaks to choose from along the beach with both right and left handers. The wave is powerful and hollow. You can also find some breaks round the southern point of Whiritoa beach, round to Mataora bay. Whiritoa is a Popular beach, so watch out for swimmers, Know the rules and respect the locals. Good for intermediate to expert surfers. Surf club in the middle of the beach.

Whiritoa is on the east side of the Coromandel peninsula, on State Highway 25.
From Thames head south on Queen Street, State Highway 25, and continue onto Ngati Maru Highway. At the round about turn left onto Mgati Maru Highway, State Highway 26, then left onto Kopu-Hikuai Road, State Highway 25A heading east. Turn right onto Tairua Road, State Highway 25, heading south. At Whangamata continue on State Highway 25 south. At Whiritoa turn left onto Whiritoa Beach Road, then right onto Kon Tiki Road. Find a good peak down the beach. There is a surf club here.
Alternatively, If coming from the South, travel up on State Highway 25 and turn right off onto Whiritoa Beach Road, down to Kon Tiki Road and the beach.
