Hurunui River Mouth
Hurunui River Mouth is a river mouth bar break and beach break on a shingle beach, located just south of Gore Bay and Cheviot, North Canterbury. The Hurunui River Mouth bar has a couple of peaks, with both right and left handers, and there are also several other peaks along the beach. The wave is punchy and hollow. Good for intermediate to expert surfers. River mouths often have strong currents or rips.

Hurunui River Mouth is located just south of Gore Bay and Cheviot, North Canterbury.
From Christchurch, head north on State Highway 1. When you get to Domett, turn right onto Hururnui Mouth Road, and take this all the way down to the river mouth and beach. There are a couple of campgrounds in Gore Bay or Cheviot if you would like to stay longer.
