Motunau Beach

Motunau Beach is a beach break with variable peaks, just along from the river mouth. the beach is stony/rocky then leads onto sand. The beach offers both right and left handers providing good, fun waves. often softer waves, great for a mal. Good for all levels of surfer. For the adventurous, if you have access to a boat you can try Motunau island.

Directions 

From Christchurch head north on State Highway 1, through Amberley and Waipara, until you get to Greta Valley. At Greta Valley turn right onto Motunau Beach Road and continue all the way to Motunau. Drive through the Motunau village down to the beach front on The Parade. Find a park and check the surf.
