Mount Maunganui Main Beach is nice sandy beach thats very popular in summer. There is a beach break with peaks along the beach, and can get a good right point break off the point at Moturiki Island, also known as the blowhole, south end of the beach. The beach can often get a sucky, holow shore break. When its big you can use the rips to get out. Good for surfers of all levels. Which out in the crowds and beware of swimmers.

From Tauranga take the Takitimu Drive State Highway 2, North East, over the harbour bridge. Then turn left onto eith Totara Street or Maunganui Road, down to The Mount and try to find a park near the beach. In summer it can get really busy round The Mount.
