Ragitaiki
Rangitaiki is a beach break on a sand beach, located at the mouth of the Rangitaiki River. There are several peaks at the river mouth and along the beach towards the airport to choose from, with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and hollow, good fun. Suitable for intermediate to expert surfers.

Directions
From Whakatane center, go west on Domain Road, then continue straight through the round about onto Landing Road. Turn right onto State Highway 30 over the Whakatane River. Turn right onto Thornton Road. At the Rangitaiki River, turn right oto either Thornton Hall Road or Thornton Beach Road (depending which side of the river mouth you want to surf) and take this down to the beach.
