Whakatane Heads
Whakatane Heads is a right hand point river mouth break on a sand beach, located on the west side of the mouth to the Whakatane River. You need to paddle across the river mouth to get to the break, be careful as theres strong currents and boats passing through. This is a top quality right hand break which is very popular, so know the rules and respect the locals. The wave is fast and hollow, great performance wave with long rides. Suitable for advanced to expert surfers.
