Directions
From Whakatane head east through Opotiki and change from State Highway 2 onto State Highway 35. Take this all the way along the coast through Whangaparoa, and when you hit the east side of East Cape you will be at Hicks Bay. Turn left on to Wharf Road then right onto Onepoto Road, down to the beach.
Alternatively, from Gisborne head north up the coast on State Highway 35, through Te Araroa, and Hicks bay is the last bay before the road heads inland. Turn right onto Wharf Road then right onto Onepoto Road, down to the beach.
