Oakura Bay is a beach break on a sandy beach, located just north of Helena Bay on the east coast, north of Whangarei. There are several peaks down the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun. Good for all levels of surfer. Popular beach - know the rules and respect the locals. Watch out for swimmers.

Oakura Bay is located just north of Helena Bay on the east coast, north of Whangarei.
From Whangarei, head north on Western Hills Drive, State Highway 1. Turn right onto Russell Road. Conintue past Helena Bay on Old Russell Road. Turn left to stay on Old Russell Road, then turn right onto Oakura Road and down to the beach at Oakura Bay.
