Waimamaku
Waimamaku is a beach break on a sandy beach, located at the mouth of the Waimamaku River, south of Omapere. There are several peaks to choose from along the beach with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun. Good for all levels of surfer. Exposed break that is usually wind affected. River mouths often have strong currents or rips. This is a dangerous beach, surf at your own risk. Sharky area.

Waimamaku is located at the mouth of the Waimamaku River, south of Omapere, on the west coast of Northland.
From Kaitaia head south on South Road, State Highway 1, out of town. Turn right onto Mangamuka Road, then turn left onto Kohukohu Road. Continue onto West Coast Road. Take the Rawene to Kohukohu ferry across to Rawene. Go West on Parnell Street, and continue onto Rawene Road. Turn right onto State Highway 12. Turn right onto Waimamaku Beach Road, and take this as far as you can. You will need to park up and walk the last 1km to the beach.
