Tanutanu
Tanutanu is a beach break on a sandy/rocky beach, located south of Tauroa point, south west of Ahipara. There are several peaks to choose from along the beach with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy. Tanutanu is a long walk or 4wd in from the Gumfields, or you can drive on the beach right round the point from Shipwreck Bay. Be careful of rips. Good for all levels of surfer.

Tanutanu is located south of Tauroa Point, south west of Ahipara, on the west coast of Northland.
From Kaitaia head south west on Redan Street, out of town, then continue straight ahead on Pukepoto Road. When you get to Ahipara, Continue straigh on Foreshore Road, over the Wairoa River. The road will change to gravel. Continue west along the shore line to the western end of the bay and continue past Wreck Bay Road, onto Gumfields Road. Take the first right on the gravel track towards the beach. It is a 4wd track down onto the beach or you may have to walk some of the way in. If you have a 4wd you can also drive on the beach right round the point from Shipwreck Bay, careful can be dangerous and tidal.
