Russell's Oneroa Bay is a beach break on a sandy beach, located at Russell in the Bay Of Islands. Russell needs a huge north or north east swell to get in and break. There are several peaks down the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. The wave is soft and fat. Good for all levels of surfer. Popular beach - know the rules and respect the locals. Russell's Oneroa Bay is located at Russell in the Bay Of Islands.
From Whangarei, head north on Western Hills Drive, State Highway 1. At Kawakawa turn right onto State Highway 11. At Opua turn right onto Franklin Street, then left onto Beechy Street and you will need to take the ferry across to Okiato. Continue straight onto Aucks Road. Turn left onto Russell Whakapara Road. Coming into Russell Continue onto Hope Avenue, then right onto Florance Avenue, then left onto Pomare Road, then right onto Oneroa Road, continue left onto Queens View Road, then turn right onto Long Beach Road along the beach front.
