Houhora Heads
Houhora Heads is a left hand point break on a sandy/rocky point, located at the mouth to the Houhora Harbour on the east coast of Northland. Need to paddle across the river mouth to Stanley Point. The wave is punchy, wally and long. best for advanced to expert surfers only. River mouths often have strong currents and rips.

Houhora Heads is located at the mouth to the Houhora Harbour on the east coast of Northland.
From Kaitaia, head north on North Road, State Highway 1. Before you get to Pukenui, turn right onto Houhora Heads Road and follow this down to the end, to the river mouth. From here its a paddle across the river mouth to Stanley Point.
