Hokianga
Hokianga is a beach break on a sandy/rocky beach, located on the south head of Hokianga Harbour. There are several peaks to choose from along the beach with both right and left handers. There is also a good right hander on the end of South Head. The wave is punchy. Very strong currents, so you can only surf around lower, incoming tide. Be careful of strong currents or rips. Good for intermediate to expert surfers.

Directions
Hokianga is located on the south head of Hokianga Harbour, on the west coast of Northland.
From Kaitaia head south on South Road, State Highway 1, out of town. Turn right onto Mangamuka Road, then turn left onto Kohukohu Road. Continue onto West Coast Road. Take the Rawene to Kohukohu ferry across to Rawene. Go West on Parnell Street, and continue onto Rawene Road. Turn right onto State Highway 12. Turn right onto Signal Station Road, and take this right to the end, South Head. From here it is a short walk/climb down to the beach.
